Clinical Psychologist
Clinical Psychologist specializing in psychotherapy
I have always been interested in meaningful conversations and understanding the difficulties that different individuals face. I have a strong desire to comprehend and assist people dealing with both significant and minor issues. I have engaged in psychotherapy with a diverse range of people, each facing different challenges. I place great emphasis on fostering meaningful conversations that prioritize understanding, as well as personal development and change. A good conversation should provide new reflections and focus that individuals can work on between sessions.
I have a professional collaboration with Villa Sult in Oslo.
On the more formal side, I am a trained psychologist from Aalborg University. I am a member of the Norwegian Psychological Association and have over 17 years of experience as a psychologist. I am a certified MBT (Mentalization-Based Treatment) trainer from The Anna Freud Center and was involved in founding the Danish Institute for Mentalization. I have worked with mentalization-based therapy (MBT) and personality disorders in Aarhus, served as the leading psychologist and head of the «Outpatient Clinic for Anxiety and Personality Disorders» in Brønderselv, Nordjylland. I am also a certified specialist and supervisor in psychotherapy in both Denmark and Norway. I worked at the Outpatient Clinic for Personality Psychiatry in Sandefjord, where I also served as the head. I have worked at outpatient clinics for substance use disorders and eating disorders in Tønsberg. I have provided teaching and guidance in MBT and personality disorders for many years, both nationally and internationally. I am a certified MBT supervisor and therapist in Norway and Denmark.
I have participated in research projects on the treatment of patients with personality disorders and have written articles on this subject.
I am the leader of the Institute for Mentalization, which is a nonprofit foundation with the aim of promoting the development and understanding of mentalization theory and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT). Mentalization is the ability that characterizes us as humans, providing us with self-awareness, the ability to understand the behavior of others, and the formation of civilized societies. Mentalization is a key component of our personality. Temporary or long-term impairment of mentalization ability can lead to milder to more severe personality problems. MBT was initially an evidence-based treatment for borderline (emotionally unstable) personality disorder. Today, MBT is used for a wide range of personality issues, including special modifications for eating disorders, substance addiction, anxiety, depression, and trauma treatment.
